  Driving Tours of Sedona
From
the comfort of your car you can soak up the stunning beauty of Sedona's
soaring spires and massive buttes as you drive through Red Rock
Country. Wind your way through the towering cliffs and shimmering
cottonwood trees of Oak Creek Canyon and stop to watch the action
at Slide Rock State Park.
Visit
some of the larger rock formations historically named by the early
settlers. You'll no doubt recognize Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock,
Coffee Pot and Courthouse Rock.
Sedona
is home to several Arizona State Parks, offering spectacular scenic
views and photo-opportunities just a short walk from the car park.

Tlaquepaque,
a charming replica of an old Mexican village, is less than a quarter
of a mile from the Kings Ransom Inn. Within Tlaqupaque you will find
restaurants, galleries, and specialty shops all tucked away in
fascinating courtyards to explore. Fountains, gardens, and a pleasant creek side
setting make Tlaquepaque a popular shopping and dining destination.
Sedona Hiking
 The
Coconino National Forest wraps around the town of Sedona
and includes three wilderness areas. Day hikers have over
70 miles of well-maintained trails to choose from. A "Red
Rock Pass" is needed to park your car at trail heads in
the National Forest, but this pass is not needed when
you stay at the Kings Ransom Inn, one of our two Sedona Hotels.
Access
to one of Sedona's most awesome trails, Marg's Draw, is
just steps away from your hotel room. You'll walk beneath
350 million year old fire red rock formations which surround
you on your picturesque hike. There's a bit of a climb at the trail head, but after that you walk
across large red rock shelves and through cactus and high
desert pine forests, making this an easy hike. All around you are breathtaking, panoramic views
across Sedona.

Sedona Grand Canyon Tour

Sedona
Mountain and Scenic Highway Biking
Beginner
and expert riders alike will be thrilled to ride Sedona's
miles of mountain bike trails. Switch backs, steep climbs,
pleasant shade trees, panoramic red rock views and even
swimming are part of the Sedona mountain biking experience.
Don't be surprised if you have one of the single track trails
all to yourself!
Recently, Arizona Department of Transportation added bike lanes to Highway 179, the main thoroughfare into Sedona and a National Scenic Highway. Now you can tour the beauty of this area using safe bike lanes, enabling a more relaxed sightseeing pace. There are even motorized bikes to rent right next door to our Sedona hotels.

Ghost Mining Town
The
copper mining town of Jerome was once home to more than 15,000
people, but today less than 600 live there. Built on Arizona's
largest copper mine, Jerome produced over a billion dollars in
ore. Known at one time as "the wickedest town in the west", Jerome
is now America's largest ghost town.
Jerome's
mines closed in the early 1950s and today the town is a center
for artists, craftsmen, writers and musicians. Clinging to the
side of the mountain, the town looks much the same today as it
did a 100 years ago. Get a feel for its history by visiting the
museum at Jerome State Park or follow the footprint of the old
narrow gauge railroad through switchbacks and hairpin turns.

The
early settlers came to Sedona to grow fruit along the banks of
the Oak Creek. Visit the apple orchards at Slide Rock State Park
and learn how these farmers lived.
